August 19, 2008

Los Angeles, Calif. - On Saturday, August 16th downtown Los Angeles was the hot spot for Latin music in Southern California. Que Buena FM presented Regional Mexican star Jenni Rivera who wowed the sold-out crowd of 7,100 fans at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE with an amazing set that lasted over two and a half hours. Across the street at the world-famous STAPLES Center, Latino 96.3 hosted Cali Bash - which featured Pitbull, Daddy Yankee, Sean Kingston and Flex among the eight artist bill. The artists played to an audience of 15,000 fans who were there to dance and party.

The Jenni Rivera and Cali Bash concerts have the distinguished honor to be a part of the first time the new downtown L.A. LIVE entertainment district has hosted two Latin shows drawing 22,000 people on the same evening. Both shows were booked by AEG Live, Vice President of Latin Booking, Rebeca Leon.

"Saturday evening was an amazing accomplishment for AEG Live, STAPLES Center, Nokia Theatre, and L.A. LIVE collectively," Leon commented. "We have recently had the honor of hosting sell out shows by Mana and their historic 4-night run at STAPLES Center, as well as Juanes and his 4-night run, Enrique Iglesias and Los Temerarios at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. Having this kind of success in both venues on the same night proves that L.A. LIVE is indeed the destination of choice for Latin concert goers. We are looking forward to our upcoming events this fall at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE such as Luis Miguel, Marco Antonio Solis, Julieta Venegas and Billboard's Regional Mexicana Noche Premmusa."

This historic evening comes off the heels of another huge success story for AEG Live. On August 9th they hosted Super Estrella's sold out Reventon show at their Home Depot Center. Home of David Beckam, the Galaxy and Chivas USA, the Home Deport Center's audience of 25,000 people were electrified by performances by Juanes, Alejandro Fernandez, among many others.

AEG Live will further enlarge their footprint this November when it opens Club Nokia with an MTV TR3S tour headlined by Calle 13.

It is an exciting time in downtown Los Angeles, the L.A. LIVE project will open the second phase late this fall, which will include a variety of restaurants and other hospitality options leading up to the Grand Opening of the GRAMMY Museum on December 3. December will also be a festive and special-event driven month-long celebration of nearly all of L.A. LIVE's venues, restaurants and public spaces including, Club Nokia, The Conga Room, Lucky Strike Lanes, the AEG Broadcast Studio and the corporate office space. The ESPN offices and studios will open in early 2009.

The third phase will complete the project in early 2010 with the opening of the JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel and The Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. LIVE, meeting rooms, ballrooms and Regal Cineplex.
